This is the interlocking system done in my materials and tools class. It was the project that coincided with the cube that my professor allowed us to redo. I added a color and extended the interlocking pieces since it no longer was required to fit in the cube and no longer required to be black and white.

This is a camera I'm working on right now. The colors I just added on for the sake of turning something in for my class.
The lens part rotates and works as the on and off switch. You just slide the bronze part. I haven't added in buttons or really finalized anything other than the basic shape. So, a work in progress.

An injection molded plastic chair. A remake of the lawn chair I guess. I'm going to redo it with arm rests and the seat part of the chair needs to be redone.

This is a measuring cup and a pitcher done on the CAD program, Solidworks.
It is plastic injection molding.

This is a children's wardrobe, the final project for my materials and tools class. It was a group project done in two weeks.
It is modular, the bottom (blue) portion has two drawers and the top two pieces (yellow, red) has a bar for hanging clothes inside.

my first project in model building.

the first is to create an interlocking system using only bristol board. no adhesives are allowed.
I was heavily influenced by architectural design elements for this project and my main focus was the play on shadows.
my professor is giving the entire class more time to work on this one so this one is still in progress. the interlocking system no longer needs to fit inside the cube (second part of the project) so that will affect a lot of other students designs as well as my own. I'll be putting my finished interlocking system up once it's done.

the second is to deconstruct the cube and show different design elements within each side of the cube using only foam board.
once again, architectural influence. i treated the cube as if it was an office building of sorts. I was somewhat influenced by eric owen moss on this one. mostly because i visited culver city shortly before this project and i was feeling very 'architecturalish?'

i hated this project so much that it took a bit to actually put it up. basically, its my steer loader project. i had from 11PM to 7AM to finish it. By the end of it, i just got tired and started almost scribbling on the marker deciding to just make it look sketchy? Perspective is off and i was planning to put more into the configuration part but it was about 5AM when i started the second page so i just ended up making that bit the whole presentation. I spent a little too much time on staring off into space imagining sleep during this one.

I'm currently taking a Rapid Vis course (DESN232) for the summer and these are my first two projects. The first was baby toys. The focus on this project was shape and color. This is just a simple toy that grows with the baby from infancy to toddler. The toys start off as individual pieces and later can be linked together to create a pull-along toy. The material for this toy is glossy plastic.

The second project was to create a furniture that had two transformations and three functions. I created something for the kitchen where it starts off as a cutting board/ extra counter space and eventually tranfroms into a dining table for two or four. The material is brushed metal and wood for the cutting board.

Materials: Prisma Markers, white ink, pastels, pen

Oh, and my wrist is no longer in a cast. So these are post cast days. The ones before these renderings are cast days. I was drawing with my body basically. People had fun watching me in class doing marker renderings with a cast that restricted me from bending my wrist and elbow. Thank god those days are over.

For my 132 B Perspective and Rendering class, we were given a seating project. I decided to do a commerical airplane seat. This seat has its own booth and it can slide out to become a bed. My tiffs about this one is that I wish I created more contrast in colors and made the environment a little more interesting. I chose the bright colors since I noticed that most commerical airline seats are dark blues and grays. I wanted to make this a little more intricate but I procrastinated (as always) and had to just go with a simple solution.

This project was my first in 120B Introduction to Industrial Design. It's not a very clean model but I blame my broken wrist. The point of this project was to encompass a designer of my choice through a model with any material. I chose Elena Manferdini who is an architect and currently teaches at SCIARC in Downtown LA.

Material: Aluminum

This project was my last project in 120B. We had to portray a song of choice through a model. I chose "Re-Folk" by DAT Politics.

Material: Various sizes of screws, aluminum wire, acrylic paint

ode to the blog

I haven't done this blog any justice and due to the fact that I am a horrible
photographer and my printer/scanner opted to go towards and into the light, my projects and sketches will be difficult to bring to the oh so many readers of this blog.

So I will have to verbally express my not so many thoughts and when I do find some passion to take photographs of my work, I will.

Currently I am a right-handed designer with a broken right wrist.

Maybe this is a chance for me to brush up on my photography skills.

We will see.

Or I will ignore this chance and continue to stubbornly buy children's lettering and colouring books to become ambidextrous.

Or do both.
